FAQ

FAQ

What should I bring?:

Bring a valid ID (required) We recommend that you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, cash (we currently do not accept credit cards), lunch or snack, beverage and shoes you do not mind getting wet.

I have never done SUP before, how hard is it? What should I know?:

It's actually easy. If you can walk, you can SUP. If you can ride a bike, you can SUP. After a few minutes, most people gain a good level of confidence on a SUP. It's an excellent workout depending how hard you go at it; however, if you have health issues, you should consult your doctor first.

Can I bring my dog?:

We currently allow dogs to accompany you on your SUP adventure. However our rental fleet consist of boards that are weight rated up to 250 lbs. If the weight of you and your dog exceed this, we recommend that you venture solo. Also please note that our boards have a soft comfort/traction pad. If your dogs claws damage this pad, you will be responsible for the repair costs of replacing the pad. Phoenixville SUP currently is not offering personal flotation devices for dogs. If you feel it is necessary you must supply your own.

Do I have to get wet?:

Our boards have been selected for stability in the conditions you are likely to encounter. If you are not overly aggressive or horsing around, you should be able to stay mostly dry. My 13 year old son and I regularly SUP in our street clothes and have, for the most part, managed to stay dry and we have no exceptional SUP skills. However count on getting your legs wet as you get on and off the board.

What type of boards do you provide?:

All Phoenixville SUP boards are new and designed for the conditions you will encounter on the canal and/or river. All of our boards are manufactured by SUP ATX, a leader in the SUP industry. Our boards are 10'6” foot long, weigh approximately 25 pounds and have a built in carry handle.

Rental fees include board, carbon fiber paddle and a personal flotation device (PFD) for each passenger. We do not offer PFD's for dogs.

How many people can fit on one board?:

Our SUP rentals are designed to handle up to 250lbs. An adult and child/dog will usually be fine. In many cases two adults should be fine. Assuming you are within the weight recommendations it usually comes down to the available space on the board.

Are children allowed?:

Yes, children are allowed as long as the child is accompanied by an adult. Phoenixville SUP requires all children 12 and under to wear a personal flotation device at all times. We do recommend that while on the river adults and children wear the provided PFD as the current can be very strong on occasion.

How much time should I plan?:

Our minimum rental is one hour and is really only enough time to for paddling in the canal. If you plan on venturing out onto the river to do the “Loop” we recommend 2 to 3 hours for the full "Loop".

The “Loop” is the trip most paddlers do when paddling both the canal and river. The full “Loop” is a 4.5 mile journey that starts at Phoenixville SUP taking you up the canal approximately 1 mile where you portage onto the the river and then float or paddle down the the river 2.5 miles, portage back to the canal and then back up the canal 2 miles to Phoenixville SUP.

Is parking available on location?:

We offer on location parking.

Do I need to reserve a time?:

Reservations are highly recommended as we sell out on occasion. Please call or text to check availability and/or make a reservation.

Can I rent a SUP outside of your posted operating hours:?

Yes. In most cases we will be able to accommodate your requested time with 30 minutes notice. Please call to request your time.

Do you accept credit cards?:

We currently do not accept credit cards.

Do you offer group and/or frequent rental discounts?:

We offer group and frequent rental discounts. Please call or stop by for details

Am I responsible for lost or damaged rental equipment?:

Yes. Lost and damaged equipment will be charged at our wholesale cost.

What type of wild life should I expect to see?:

Fish, turtles, birds of all types and if you get lucky you will even see one or more of the bald eagles in the area.
